Good luck at your polling place.  Next week’s election determines who the new Governor of Ohio will be.  If you are unaware, the Governor has final authority on how much the State reimburses us for care, which directly effects how much we are able to compensate our team.  So, you are essentially voting for your paycheck, so you definitely have skin in the game!

But, regardless of who you vote for, just get out and participate!

Election News

Hello Team!

We thought we would put a resource page together for Election News since there have been a few questions!  Also, we’ve doubled the perk thanks to all the good recommendations.

Promotion

For any hourly team member that votes in the November 2018 election and sends Align a selfie with your “I Voted” sticker, you will be gifted a bonus equal to 2 hours of your hourly rate.  Tax Free.  Cold Hard Money.  No Questions Ask.  We must receive the selfie within 48 hours of Election Day.

Election Day

  • Election Day is Tuesday, November 6th, 2018
  • You must be registered to vote.

How to Register

  • Registration Deadline Day is October 9th, 2018.
  • To register or check registration click HERE. (It takes 2 minutes)

Who Are The Candidates?

The biggest question we have been asked is, “Who do I vote for?”  By clicking HERE and entering your address, you can see who is running in your area.

In Closing

Though Align has no official position for who you vote, we just want everyone’s voice from the team to be heard.  Too many good ideas go by the wayside when people refuse to stand up.

Specifically for what we do for a living, the majority of the people we care for are funded by state backed programs.  This years election, we, Ohioans, are choosing a new Governor, which can directly impact the work we do, the funding we received, and indirectly, your pay!  Do not fall under the false belief that this is not an important election!!

Hello Team!

With Summer coming to a close, we wanted to take a moment to give everyone an update on the team.

Benefit Corner

First Aid/CPR: For all members of the team, we have bolstered our First Aid / CPR program.  Not only have we doubled the amount of classes, but we are also offering classes through the week.  Click HERE to access the flyer including the schedule.  Contact Kara S. to sign up.  As a reminder, having active First Aid / CPR are a requirement for employment.

Align Home Health

EVV: Over the next year, Medicaid will be implementing a system called Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) to all Medicaid patients in Ohio.  This system is a way for Medicaid to monitor that services are being received by their patents on an ongoing basis.  Over the next year, you may be seeing EVV tablets being installed into Client’s homes.  Until we are authorized, there is no need for any member of our team to use these; just continue to clock in and out as normal using Axiscare.  If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask.  As we find out new info, we will relay it to the team.

Referral Bonus: We continue to seek talented individuals to join the Align family.  So, for anyone who recommends an Aide that successfully on-boards and remains an active member of the team for at least 3 months will receive a $100 bonus!

Align Life Centers

Camp WhatAboutYou: The ALC team completed another successful year of our Summer camp for folks with special needs, Camp WhatAboutYou.  The camp had 11 participants this year and did a variety of activities under our roof and in the community as seen HERE.  Though it’s sad to seem them go, there were many wonderful memories made over the 10 week program!

Align Team Daycare

Vacancy: From kids going back to school, we have openings for 1 or 2 children at the daycare.  If you are interested, please inquire with Judy N.

In Closing

Hope everyone had a fruitful Summer.  As we head to Fall, we wanted to remind everyone that there is a very important election in November.  In order to vote, individuals must be registered by October 9th, 2018.  Everyone can confirm their registration by going HERE.  It takes 2 minutes to get set up.

Why is this important?  Besides it being your civic duty, Align is offering for all hourly staff, a gift of 1 hour’s compensation for anyone who sends us a selfie outside their polling location with an “I Voted” sticker.  For those voting absentee, send us a selfie of you voting from home with your sticker.

Regardless of who you vote for, just get out and participate!

New News

  • New Format: We’ve standardized the heading of the newsletters to that folks can more easily find the information.  If you have any suggestions, don’t be shy.  Email or text Josh!
  • Daycare: Probably the greatest update that I’ve had the fortune to bring to everyone.  An exploratory committee met in early June to discuss creating a Daycare center exclusively for family members of our team.  There is much more work to be done but we are moving forward with this project.
    • How can you help?  As we move forward, we will be asking for your input and participation, again, don’t be shy.  It serves no one if we create a Daycare that isn’t compatible with anyone’s needs.
  • Corporate Challenge: In the future, Align is working to bring every member of the Align family healthcare and 401k.  In order to pay for these benefits, however, we need have growth to the tune of about 40-50 more Direct Care Staff to the team.  That said, given a long enough timeline, we will eventually hit this goal, but the faster we can hit this goal, the faster we will be able to roll out these premium benefits.
    • How can you help?  I challenge every member of the team, spread the word about Align Home Health and encourage your friends, colleagues, and people you know in the industry to apply.  There is no stronger reference than ‘word of mouth’.  By getting people you know to be good caregivers to onboard, we can continue to grow and the faster we can bring everyone more benefits.  It is in all of our hands!  Folks can apply at www.alignhomehealth.com/jointheteam

Caregiver Benefits: As we grow, our goal is to continue to bring more value to our team members in the form of incentives, bonus, and perks.  In short, having the best team members more than any other organization, means that you should be valued as the best team members.  So, this section will remain as a standard part of all newsletters moving forward and is reserved as a place for update regarding Caregiver Benefits…to which this month, there are many!

  • Holiday Pay: Starting July 4th, 2017, Direct Care Staff will receive holiday pay for holidays at the rate of 1.5 times your regular pay!
  • MyDealsApp: We have negotiated a partnership with My Deals.  It is discount app available on the Google Play Store and the iTunes for discounted rates on everyday things that you do anyways like Food, Shopping, and Entertainment.  Just click the links to install and contact Judy for the login credentials.  Some typical deals include:
    • Papa John’s – 25% off regular menu prices
    • Red Box – Rent 1, get another rental free
    • Monroe Muffler – $19.99 Oil Changes
    • Poelking Bowling – Free 2 games with purchase
  • First Aide Classes: We recently have had 2 team members achieve their certification to be able to teach first aide and CPR.  The class schedule will be sent out soon and will include evening and weekend classes so that everyone will be up to date!

Industry Corner: From time to time, here you can find industry updates from the care industry.  These are STATE REQUIRED READINGS for people in this industry in the State of Ohio.

  • Please visit the Health & Welfare Alerts website.  Catch up on all 2017 alerts.  The latest updates include:
  • Seizures: Changes in weather, particularly hot weather, can trigger seizures in people with specific disorders.  A good brush up article can be found by clicking here.

Finding Someone Doing It Right: We want to recognize a few members of our team who have gone above and beyond the call of duty with their clients.  With so many wonderful caregivers, it is very hard to pick.  With that said, caregivers for last month that were found “doing it right” are:

Last Month $10 Gas CardsmrT Good work

  • Elizabeth F.
  • Carlisha G.
  • Shacole H.
  • Bonnie H.
  • Mariah L.

  • Jami R.
  • Kaitlyn R.
  • Carolyn W.

The winner of the $100, “no call off” shifts for last month is:

  • Natasha (Tasha) S.

Final Thoughts: Again, thanks for powering through a long update, but there are many wonderful things going on at Align made possible through the efforts of our great team.  I hope to be reaching out to every member of the team over the next few months to check in and open a dialog so do not be surprised to see me calling on caller ID.  I encourage everyone to try new things and let me know what works and doesn’t.  Though we will never be perfect, only by being brave and trying new things will we discover.  Thanks!

Starting in late May, Align will be offering in-house CPR & First Aid training to all members of our team!  Kinks are still being worked out and this is the beginning of many, but it is another way that we would like to say thank you for all you do.

For anyone who’s CPR & First Aid certification is set to expire in May or June, we will allow amnesty until our classes become available.

January Caregiver Newsletter

January Caregiver NewsletterJanuary

Hello Team!

Happy New Year to all!  We wanted to give everyone some exciting updates!

Knowledge Corner: A couple items to refresh…

  • 24 Hour Call – If there is a reasonable chance that you will not make your shift, it is appreciated if you could let the office know day before if you know.  Whether its childcare issues or you think you may be coming down with an illness, just giving us a heads up that there might be an issue helps in prevention planning with your clients.
  • Clock In/Out Policy – Just a friendly reminder, in order to get paid for a shift, you must clock in and out.  Without this information, we can be fined during audits.  Calling into the office to let us know that you have arrived is appreciated but is NOT a substitute for using the clock in and out system.  So please, clock in and out for every shift, even if you are late and/or leaving early.

Healthcare Updates: Please visit the health and welfare alerts website.  A new update has been posted regarding Winter Weather Advisories.  Remember, for those caregivers working with Special Needs clients, this is STATE REQUIRED READING.

Align’s New Home: I am pleased to announce that Align has moved to a new facility located at 1616 Mardon DR, Dayton, OH 454321616 Mardon

The new facility is going to allow us to grow and expand while offering our team a place for activities and classes.  With the space, given interest from the team, we hope to host activities that are relevant to you.  The vision of the new building is that it is very much your place!  Over the next month or so, the first floor will be renovated to be a state of the art facility where events can be hosted.  In the meantime, think about what type of events you would attend?  We have the space, but you have the collected interest.  If the team is interested and is willing to participate, Align can arrange and facilitate.  For instance, First Aid & CPR Training, Child Care, College Study Sessions, are all possibilities.  The way we see it, if there are 10 members of the team interested in Tuba Lessons and are willing to pay $5, that means we can arrange and pay a teacher $50 to come in and teach.  So, over the next two weeks, think about what you would like us to look into hosting.  A survey will be sent out for your input.  I encourage everyone, too, to stop by and check out your new home base!

Finding Someone Doing It Right:  Again, we want to recognize a few of our team who have gone above and beyond the call of duty with their clients.  With so many wonderful caregivers, it is very hard to pick.  With that said, caregivers for last month that were found “doing something right” are:

  • Chiquita A.

  • Skyla U.

The winner of the $100, “no call off” shifts for last month is:

  • Hannah S.

Congrats to all the winners.  Please contact the office to make arrangements to receive your gift cards!

Final Thoughts: Here’s to the start of a healthy and happy 2017.  Thank you for all the efforts through 2016.  As a reminder, if there are things you need or suggestions you have, please do not hesitate to reach out.  Home health is a team sport and everyone at Align is here to support you!

December Caregiver Newsletter

December Caregiver NewsletterDecember

Hello Team!

Welcome to Winter!?!.  We wanted to give everyone some exciting updates!

Knowledge Corner: There has been some questions about the mileage and clocking out.  When you clock out and are asked about miles, the miles in question are those that you transported clients in your vehicle only.  Related to this,  transporting clients in the caregiver’s vehicle is only allowed if specifically listed in the Plan of Care.  If you have any question, please do not hesitate to contact Judy or Josh for clarification.  Every client’s plans are a little different, so we are here to help.

Holiday Party: Align’s holiday party is tentatively scheduled for late January/early February.  Everyone’s holiday season is busy enough so the goal is to set some time aside that we can enjoy ourselves.  For those who have not been, the holiday party is typically a casual, family friendly event.  News to come on this!

Inclement Weather: With the midwest winter weather potentially upon us, our #1 priority is caregiver safety.  The weather is monitored closely and if weather either getting bad or predicted to be bad, provisions will be made to keep everyone safe.  If you have any questions or issues when weather strikes, please contact the office for assistance.

Free CEU’s: As a reminder, all Align Caregivers are required by the State to have at least 8.0 CEU’s per year.  For anyone with any existing CEU’s for 2015 or 2016, please send us copies or take pictures of the certs with your phone and email/text.  For those needing CEU’s, there are great resources online for FREE CEU’s.  We use and recommend http://ce.nurse.com/FreeCE.aspx for all CEU’s.  Registration is fast and free it is creates a cert that you can keep if ever you are audited by the State.

Healthcare Updates: Please visit the health and welfare alerts website.  A new update has been posted.  Remember, for those caregivers working with Special Needs clients, this is STATE REQUIRED READING.

The new article is Priority One and is a short read.  Its a good refresher on emergencies and risks.

Finding Someone Doing It Right:  Again, we want to recognize a few of our team who have gone above and beyond the call of duty with their clients.  With so many wonderful caregivers, it is very hard to pick.  With that said, caregivers for last month that were found “doing something right” are:

  • Nikki W.

The winner of the $100, “no call off” shifts for last month is:

  • Tiffany T.

Congrats to all the winners.  Please contact the office to make arrangements to receive your gift cards!

Final Thoughts: 2016 has been an exciting year.  Without contributions from our entire team, Align would not be the success that it is.  I urge everyone to carve out a little time each day to recognize how you change and effect people’s lives every day for the better.  Our client’s are better off because you chose to be a caregiver while Align is better off having each of you on the team.  Thanks again for all you do and we look forward to a fruitful 2017!

Hello Team!

Welcome to Fall!.  We wanted to give everyone some exciting updates!

Finding Someone Doing It Right:  Align Home Health continues to be recognized by industry professionals for having the best team in Montgomery, Greene, and Clark counties.  Not a week goes by that a client, social worker, or friend does not go out of their way let us know how good members of our team are.  With that in mind, we would like to recognize these folks.  So starting this month, we will be giving away 10 gas cards every month to individuals who continue to provide great care, communicate well with the office, and go beyond the call of duty.

Also, to those individuals who have had no called off shifts in a given calendar month, they will be entered into a monthly drawing for a $100 gas card.

All contest winners will be published in the newsletter for recognition by the team!

Free Health & Welfare Alerts: We have begun using a website to keep everyone updated on health and welfare alerts.  The articles are short and meant to keep you posted on things effecting our clients on a periodical basis.  If you have a couple minutes, open the link and read the top article.  The most recent article, Preventing the Flu, is particularly important this time of year and is MANDATORY READING for any caregiver who takes care of DODD clients.

In Closing:  Thanks again to the effort of every single caregiver on the team.
